Vancouver is a big movie town and if you have been an actor for any length of time, you more than likely know the importance of a good headshot. It does not matter how great your acting skills are, if you do not have a headshot as your calling card, no one might even know that you exist.

Casting directors pay great attention to your headshot. Think of your headshot as your first audition. Does your photo project confidence, intelligence and personality? What is a headshot? A headshot is a close up photograph of your face. It is not a glamour shot, a publicity shot or a selfie taken in the bathroom mirror.

The shot is not about your outfit, the location or even how cool the shot is. Remember: the focus of the picture should be you. Your personality should exude in your headshot.

You want the people doing the casting to be able to see the kind of actor you are simply by looking at the photo. If you are a comic, make sure you don’t come across as sad or angry; though looking ridiculous is not the way to go either. You want a photo to show who you really are.

What to wear for your headshot? Solid colours are always good. Keep your outfit simple and not distracting. Have a few different looks so that you can send out different versions based on the project.

The most important thing to remember is that the casting director is going to find out how you look. Make sure that your headshot looks like you. Do not waste his or her time by providing a headshot that looks like someone else.Starting Package is $350 and includes: Telephone and email consultation. 60 minute photography session with up to four outfit changes. 4 retouched high resolution images suitable for printing 4 resized images suitable for casting workbook and email.
